This 1 New Zealand dollar note was introduced by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1981 and signed by Chief Cashier H. R. Hardie. It is a brown, orange, and green note that measures 140 mm x 70 mm. Its obverse side shows Queen Elizabeth II wearing Grand Duchess Vladimir’s tiara and Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee necklace. Its reverse side shows clematis flowers (Clematis paniculata), a fern, and a fantail/piwakawaka bird (Rhipidura fulginosa). Security features include a solid yellow security thread and a watermark of Captain James Cook. It is also a gem uncirculated note that qualified for Paper Money Guaranty’s Exceptional Paper Quality, experienced minor handling, and has above-average centering. Thus, it is graded 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty (PMG).
