The 2015 Omani rial banknote commemorates the 45th National Day, the day that Sultan Qaboos bin Said overthrew his father. It also celebrates the sultans 75th birthday. This note has the corrected Hijri year below the signature. The purple note measures 140 mm long and 71 mm wide. The obverse side portrays a portrait of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, the coat of arms of Oman, and a view of the Al Alam Palace in Muscat. The reverse side shows flowers, Pontia glauconome (Desert white butterflies), the 45th National Day logo, and the Sultan Qaboos University in Al Khoudh. The notes security features are a two-tone windowed security thread, a khanjar registration device, and a watermark of the Sultan.
