The coins feature a native animal on one sidea butterfly, a rockfish, a sea turtle, a spotted cuscus, a Bennets Cassowary, and two alligators. The toea coins bear the coat of arms of Papua New Guineaa bird-of-paradise on a traditional spear and a kundu drumon the other side. The 1 kina coin has a hole in the center and bears the Bank of Papua New Guinea logo on the other side. The 1 and 2 toea coins are made of copper-plated zinc, and the remaining coins are made of a copper-nickel alloy. The coins in the set are in mint condition.
