The Papua New Guinea 5 Kina Banknote was issued by the Bank of Papua Guinea in 2002. This violet banknote features the coat of arms depicting a bird of paradise perched on a Kundu drum and a ceremonial spear on the obverse. The reverse of the note depicts primitive currencies, a Hombuli mask used for bridal payments in the Sepik region, a kina shell used in Highlands, a shell necklace from Milne Bay, a necklace interwoven with New Ireland seeds, and tapa cloth patterns. The note contains a windowed security thread and a watermark that shows the bank logo. It is 148 x 73 mm in size and is signed by Leonard Wilson Kamit and Koiari Tarata. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
