The Papua New Guinea 5 Kina banknote is part of the 2009 issues. It is violet in color and measures 140 x 70 mm. The obverse side shows the coat of arms with the bird of paradise perched on a Kundu drum and a ceremonial spear, and the National Parliament building in Port Moresby. The reverse side features primitive currencies, a Hombuli mask used for bridal payments in the Sepik region, a kina shell used in Highlands, a shell necklace from Milne Bay, a necklace interwoven with New Ireland seeds, and tapa cloth patterns. This banknote uses has no security thread and contains a shadow image watermark with a bank logo design. It is graded 66 by the Paper Money Guarantee (PMG).
