This uncirculated 2 Philippine peso banknote commemorates the papal visit of Pope John Paul II in 1981. It is a blue and orange banknote that is dated 17 February 1981, bear the signatures of President Ferdinand Marcos and Bank Governor Jaime C. Laya, and measures 160 mm x 66 mm. Its obverse side contains Filipino text, an ANG BAGONG LIPUNAN overprint, a PAGDALAW NG PAPA JUAN PABLO II overprint, the bank logo, and a portrait of national hero Jose Rizal. Its reverse side depicts the declaration of independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. Security features include a segmented solid security thread and a watermark of Jose Rizal.
