The 5 Philippine piso banknote is part of the New Design series banknotes that were issued after Martial Law. The note was demonetized in 2017. It has green, brown, and blue colors. Its obverse side contains Filipino text, a quill, the Katipunan logo, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas seal, a cannon, a portrait of General Emilio Aguinaldo, and a replica of the historical marker in Barasoain Church. Its reverse side portrays the first Independence Day celebration on June 12, 1989, when Emilio Aguinaldo declared independence from Spain in Kawit, Cavite. The note has a segmented solid security thread and a watermark of Emilio Aguinaldo. The note measures 160 mm long and 66 mm wide.
