This uncirculated 500 Piso Philippines note is a commemorative banknote issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Central Bank of the Philippines. It is a yellow, orange, and black note that is dated 2009, bear the signatures of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Amando Maglalang Tetangco Jr., and measures 160 x 66 mm. Its obverse side features a blue and red 60 1949-2009 Central Banking in the Philippines overprint, dove with olive branch, Benigno Simeon “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., a flag, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas seal, a dove, palm frond, and Aquino’s manual typewriter . Its reverse side shows Aquino with pen and camera as The Manila Times war correspondent covering the Korean War, four people holding hands, a woman with basket and child giving flowers to soldiers with machine guns, a teacher and student with open book, the Tarlac Capitol building on Luzon Island, and the Concepcion Municipal Building in Tarlac. Security features include a windowed security thread with demetalized 500, a solid security thread, and a watermark of Benigno Aquino Jr. The note was demonetized on 30 June 2017.
