This “Pieces of Americana” coin box contains one Spanish silver coin that circulated in the territory of early America. The 2 Spanish real coin was one of the Spanish real coins that circulated in North and South America during the early 18th century and were the basis for the current US dollar. It was legal tender in the US until 1857. The coin features the bust of the Spanish king on one side and the crowned coat of arms with two pillars, which are said to be the inspiration for the dollar sign, on the other side.
