The Poland 50 Zlotych banknote is part of the family of notes issued in 2006 with a birthday serial number to commemorate Karol Jozef Wojtylas 28th Anniversary of being elected to the papacy as Pope John Paul II. The obverse of the note features Pope John Paul II holding a staff with a crucifix top. At the left is the National Emblem which depicts a crowned eagle and on the upper left are Peters keys. The world map can also be found on the obverses background. The reverse shows the inauguration of Pope John Paul II with Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski. The Jasna Gora Monastery and shrine in Czestochowa as well as an excerpt from the Letter to Poles are also visible. This 144 x 72 mm paper note has a solid security thread with printed 50 ZL. Its watermark is the papal seal.
