The Portugal 20 Escudos banknote is part of the 1978 issues released by the Banco de Portugal. The obverse of the note depicts navigator Admiral Gago Coutinho who was the first aviator to cross the South Atlantic Ocean by airplane along with Sacadura Cabral. On the reverse is the Biplane Fairey IIID-MKII called “Lusitania”, the Belem tower, a map, and a compass. The banknote is 135 x 66 mm in size and bears a watermark that reflects Admiral Gago Coutinho. It also carries the signatures of Emilio Rui da Veiga Peixoto Vilar and Luís Carlos de Assuncao Braz Teixeira. This paper bill is in used condition.
