The Portugal 20 Escudos banknote was issued by the Banco de Portugal in 1978. Featured on its obverse is geographer Admiral Gago Coutinho who was one of the first aviators to cross the South Atlantic Ocean by air. The back of the paper bill depicts the Biplane Fairey IIID-MKII called “Lusitania” and in the background is the Belem tower along with a map, and a compass. The banknote is 135 x 66 mm in size and bears a watermark that reflects Admiral Gago Coutinho. It also carries the signatures of Emilio Rui da Veiga Peixoto Vilar and Antonio Jose Nunes. This paper bill is in uncirculated condition.
