This Portugal 20 Escudos banknote was introduced by the Banco de Portugal in 1978. On its obverse is the portrait of navigator Admiral Gago Coutinho who became the first to traverse the South Atlantic Ocean on a floatplane. The reverse features the Biplane Fairey IIID-MKII called “Lusitania”, the Belem tower, a map, and a compass. The banknote measures 135 x 66 mm and is equipped with a watermark that reveals Admiral Gago Coutinho. It also carries the signatures of Emilio Rui da Veiga Peixoto Vilar and Luis Carlos de Assuncao Braz Teixeira. This paper bill is in used condition.
