This uncirculated 500 Portuguese escudo note is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Portugal. It is a yellow and red note that is dated 17 April 1997, bear the signatures of Antonio Jose Fernandes de Sousa and Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Cruz, and measures 125 mm x 68 mm. Its obverse side features historian Joao de Barros. Its reverse side shows an allegorical scene of Portuguese discoveries.
