This 50 escudos banknote is part of the last series of banknotes issued when Guinea-Bissau was still part of Portugal. The obverse side features the coat of arms of Portugal and the explorer Nuno Tristao. The reverse side shows a woman looking at the different types of ships throughout the ages, and the bank seal. The note does not have a security thread. However, it has a watermark of Nuno Tristao. Its dimensions are 163 mm by 80 mm.
