Queen Elizabeth’s portrait from the Bahamian dollar of 1974 is based on a photograph taken by Peter Grugeon from 1977 with the banknote company De La Rue in charge of engraving. It was created to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee of 1977 and features the Queen with the Grand Duchess Vladimir’s Tiara and Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee Necklace. The 2001 to 2020 banknotes feature Queen Elizabeth from 1992 in a portrait taken by Terry O’Neal and engraved by the British American Banknote Company. The Queen is seen wearing the Burmese Ruby Tiara, created in 1973 by Garrard, it used 96 rubies and diamonds given to her by the Nizam of Hyderabad and Berar.
