The Romania 100,000 Lei Banknote was issued by the National Bank of Romania in 1998. The banknote has a color combination of orange, purple, red, brown, and yellow. The obverse depicts the coat of arms of Romania, flowers in the underprint, hollyhock flowers, the BNR monogram, an artist’s palette and a brush. It also displays Nicolae Grigorescu and an artist’s palette in gold foil. The reverse depicts the BNR monogram, flowers in the underprint, and a young peasant girl carrying a vessel on her shoulder from “Rodica, the Water Carrier” painting by Nicolae Grigorescu. Also on the reverse is a traditional village house in the province of Oltenia, an artist’s palette, and the BNR monogram. The banknote has a solid security thread with demetalized BNR 100000, an artist’s palette as a registration device, and a watermark that reveals Nicolae Grigorescu and tilting BNR. The banknote is 160 x 73 mm in size and is signed by Dan Florescu and Mugur Constantin Isarescu. This banknote is in used condition.
