This used 50,000 Romanian lei banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the National Bank of Romania. It is a purple, violet, blue, brown, and orange polymer banknote that is dated 2001/2003, bear the signatures of Mugur Constantin Isarescu and Ionel Nitu, and measures 155 mm x 70 mm. Its obverse side shows the national coat of arms, a musical score in the underprint, a carnation flower (Dianthus dianthus), two musical notes, the BNR monogram, a violin, and a portrait of George Enescu. Its reverse side depicts a view of the Romanian Athenaeum concert hall in Bucharest, the BNR monogram, musical notes in the underprint, and the musical score from the King Oedip opera. Though the banknote does not have a security thread, it has a lyre registration device and a watermark of George Enescu with the BNR monogram. The banknote was withdrawn in 2005.
