The smallest denomination of the sixth series of banknotes issued by SAMA, the 5 Arabian riyal note is a purple paper note that measures 145 mm long and 66 mm wide. Its obverse side shows King Salman bin Abdulaziz in the foreground and the Shaybah oil refinery in Rub al Khali in the background. Its reverse side shows a view of a field of flowers with mountains in the background, and the national emblem of Saudi Arabia. The note has a windowed security thread with demetalized SAMA5. The watermarks of the note are King Salman bin Abdulaziz, an electrotype of the coat of arms, and Cornerstones.
