Part of the sixth series of banknotes and the first series issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, the 5 Saudi Arabian riyal banknote is a purple note that measures 145 mm by 66 mm. The obverse side highlights the profile of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, with the Shaybah oil refinery in Rub al Khali in the background. The reverse side is an idyllic scene of a field of flowers in front of a mountain range. The note has a windowed security thread with demetalized SAMA 5, a watermark of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, an electrotype watermark of the Saudi Arabian coat of arms and the denomination in Arabic numeral, and Cornerstones.
