The Scotland 1 Pound note was issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland Public Limited Company in 1994 to commemorate the 100th Death Anniversary of the renowned Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson who wrote Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Treasure Island, and Kidnapped. The front side of the banknote bears the portrait of the first governor of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Lord Ilay. The reverse of this bill depicts Robert Louis Stevenson and images of his life and masterpieces. Stevensons home in Samoa is also visible at the lower right of the note. The 128 x 65 mm bill has a portrait of Lord Ilay as its watermark. This particular Scotland 1 Pound has been given a grade of 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
