The first commemorative banknote that the Royal Bank of Scotland ever issued, this Scottish pound note celebrates the fact that the European Summit of 1992 was held in Edinburgh. The obverse features Archibald Campbell, the Earl of Ilay and first governor of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and the commemorative inscription and the flag of the European Union printed in blue-violet ink. The reverse features the Edinburgh castle, whose left part and center glows yellow when placed under UV light. The note is 128 mm long and 65 mm wide.
