The Sierra Leone 5,000 Leone banknote was issued by the Bank of Sierra Leone in 2013. The banknote comes in blue and purple color combinations and is 145 x 71 mm in size. The obverse design features a holographic patch in the form of a diamond, the Old Fourah Bay College building situated in Freetown, the Sierra Leones emblem, and a portrait of Sengbe Pieh who led a revolt on the Spanish slave ship called La Amistad. The back of the note features the Bumbuna Dam. The Sierra Leona 5,000 leone note carries a StarChrome windowed security thread with demetalized BSL 5000 and a watermark that reflects a lions head, an electrotype 5000, and Cornerstones. This particular banknote comes in exceptional paper quality and has been given a grade of 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
