The South Sudan 1 Pound banknote was introduced in 2011 by the Bank of Sudan with a pick number P-5a.Portrayed on its obverse design is a picture of politician Dr. John Garang de Mabior who led the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army at the time of the Second Sudanese Civil War. The banknote also shows a warrior shere from the Dinka natives. The back of the paper bill depicts a herd of giraffes. The note has dimensions of 126 x 67 mm. Its watermark reflects the denomination and a portrait of a man. It also carries a windowed security thread with the denomination. Additionally, the paper bill has the signatures of Alija Malok Aleng and David Den Athorbei. This particular South Sudan 1 Pound banknotes has been graded by 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
