The South Sudan 50 South Sudanese Pound banknote is among the paper bills issued by the Bank of South Sudan in 2011. Its front design consists of a portrait of Sudanese revolutionary leader Dr. John Garang de Mabior who led the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army. The note also depicts a Dinka warrior spear. On the reverse are elephants and a sorghum plant. The banknote is 142 x 72 mm in size and bears a windowed security thread. Additionally, it has a watermark that shows a mans face and the denomination. It also has the signatures of Alija Malok Aleng and David Den Athorbei.
