Spain 2,000 Pesetas Banknote from 1992 has a pick number of P-162, is in uncirculated (UNC) condition, and features Jose Celestino Mutis.

The Spain 2,000 Pesetas Banknote was issued by the Bank of Spain in 1992. It has hints of red, yellow, green, and blue. Its obverse features Isabel Quintanilla’s painting of Spanish botanist Jose Celestino Mutis examining a flower with a magnifying glass. It also depicts a globe showing the Americas with a hummingbird pattern in the underprint and a stylized branch of a cinchona tree. The reverse of the note is in a vertical orientation and displays the coat of arms, a fleur-de-lys, and the early site plans for the Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid. Also on the reverse are the neoclassical gate of the gardens, the “Mutisia Clematis” plate of a plant sent by Mutis to Linneo from New Granada, and a Spanish text from Mutis’ “History of the Cinchona Tree”. The banknote contains a green solid security thread and bears a watermark that reveals Fray Bartolome de Las Casas and 500. The banknote is 138 x 68 mm in size and is signed by Esteban Rospide Echeto, Mariano Mariano Rubio Jimenez, and Jesus Urdiola Salvador. This particular paper bill is in uncirculated condition.
