The Spain 200 Peseta banknote was issued by the Bank of Spain in 1980. On its obverse is a picture of novelist Leopoldo Garcia-Alas y Urena and the coat of arms of Spain. The reverse of the note depicts El Carbayon oak tree in Oviedo, cross, and a handwritten fragment of Clarins novel titled La Regenta. The 120 x 65 mm paper bill has a green solid security thread and a watermark that reveals a portrait of Leopoldo Alas. The banknote bears the signatures of Rendueles, Palazuelo, and Urdiola. This particular Spain 200 Peseta banknote has been given a grade of 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
