The Spain 200 pesetas banknote from 1980 features a Spanish realist novelist Leopoldo Garcia-Alas y Urena who was also known as Clarin. The front side of this banknote bears the countrys Coat of Arms and a cross as a registration device. On the back of the note is an enormous El Carbayon oak tree in Oviedo. It also depicts a cross and a handwritten fragment of Clarins novel titled La Regenta (The Regent). This 120 x 65 mm paper money is signed by Rendueles, Palazuelo, and Urdiola. It has a green solid security thread and the head of Leopoldo Alas as its watermark.
