The 5,000 Spanish peseta banknote uses a fleur-de-lys as a registration device. The obverse side features Alberto Schommers portrait of King Juan Carlos I and the Spanish coat of arms. The reverse side features the floor plan and the building of Palacio Real (the Royal Palace of Spain) in Madrid, and a handwritten note and signature of King Juan Carlos I. The note has a solid security thread and the watermark of King Juan Carlos I. It measures 156 x 88 mm.
