Sri Lanka 1,000 Rupees commemorative banknote from 2009 has a pick number P-122b, is in uncirculated (UNC) condition, and features Mahinda Rajapaksa. Additionally, the note comes with a commemorative folder-card.


This uncirculated 1,000 Sri Lankan rupee note is a commemorative banknote issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to celebrate “the ushering of peace and prosperity to Sri Lanka”. It is a note that is dated 20 May 2009, bears the signatures of Mahinda Rajapaksa and Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and measures 157 mm x 78.5 mm. Its obverse side has the theme “one country and one nation in harmony, progressing towards prosperity” and features President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the flag, and ears of paddy and Punkalasa on the map with a rising sun behind. Its reverse side has the theme “the valiant contribution made by the nation’s victorious sons and daughters of the security forces and the police” and shows members of the security forces hoisting the national flag, the Mavil Aru annicut, Thoppigala Rock, and two jet fighters. Security features include a 1.2-mm wide windowed ClearText security thread with a demetalized CBSL 1000 and a watermark that shows a lion holding a whip with an electrotype sword and Cornerstones. The note also comes with the commemorative folder-card.
