This uncirculated 1,000 Sri Lankan rupee note is a commemorative banknote issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to celebrate the 70th independence anniversary. It is a green note that is dated 04 February 2018, bears the signatures of Ravi Karunanayake and Indrajit Coomaraswamy, and measures 148 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side features the White Four Ring butterfly (Ypthima ceylonica), a lion holding a whip and a sword, the Tamil Kovil, a church, a mosque, a temple, and a Sri Lanka hanging parrot (Loriculus beryllinus). Its reverse side is vertically oriented and shows a Davul Bera drummer and Malpadaya Netuma dancer, a guard stone of the naga-raja holding a sprouting branch and a punkalasa beneath a hood of cobra heads with Sankha and Padma, and a stylized Dvithva Iiya vela floral motif. Security features include a 2.5-mm wide red-to-green StarChrome windowed security thread with a demetalized CBSL RS 1000 and a watermark of a parrot with an electrotype 1000 and Cornerstones. The note also comes with the commemorative folder-card.
