This uncirculated 5,000 Sri Lankan rupee banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. It is a gold and brown banknote that is dated 02 August 2020, bears the signature of Mahinda Rawejapaksa, and measures 153 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side shows a lemon migrant butterfly (Catopsilia Pomona), the Weheragala Dam and Canyon Dam, a Sri Lanka yellow-eared bulbul bird (Pycnonotus penicillatus), and a lion holding a whip with a sword. Its reverse side is vertically oriented and depicts a Guruluraksha dancer and a Nagaraksha dancer, a Rathnaprasadaya guard stone of a naga-raja holding a sprouting branch and a punkalasa (pot of plenty) beneath a hood of cobra heads with Sankha or Padma at the feet, and a stylized Kalpavrksha floral motif.
