The Sri Lanka 5,000 Rupees Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 2020. The banknote has a color combination of gold and brown and bears English, Sinhala, and Tamil texts. Its obverse features a lemon migrant butterfly, the Weheragala Dam and Canyon Dam, a Sri Lanka yellow-eared bulbul bird, and a lion holding a whip with a sword. The reverse is in a vertical orientation and depicts a Guruluraksha dancer and a Nagaraksha dancer. It also shows a stylized Kalpavrksha floral motif and the Rathnaprasadayaa guard stone (muragala) of naga-raja holding a sprouting branch and a punkalasa (pot of plenty and symbol of prosperity), beneath a hood of cobra heads, with Sankha or Padma at the feet. The banknote has a 3-mm wide red-to-green StarChrome windowed security thread with demetallized CBSL RS 5000. Its watermark reveals a bulbul bird with an electrotype 5000 and cornerstones. It is 153 x 67 mm in size. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
