The Sri Lanka 5 Rupees Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Ceylon in 1982. It has a combination of red and light blue. Its obverse side shows the Hall of Relic (Vatadage) ruins in Polonnaruwa. Its reverse side is vertically oriented and portrays a guard stone (muragala) of a naga-raja holding a sprouting branch and a pot of plenty (punkalasa) beneath a hood of cobra heads with Sankha or Padma. Security features include a solid security thread with printed CENTRAL BANK OF CEYLON and a watermark of a lion holding a whip. It is 117 mm x 62 mm in size and is signed by Finance Minister Ronald Joseph Godfrey de Mel and Bank Governor Warnasena Rasaputram. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
