This uncirculated 500 Sri Lankan rupee note is a commemorative banknote issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) meeting in Sri Lanka. It is a purple note that is dated 15 November 2013, bear the signatures of Mahinda Rajapaksa and Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and measures 143 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side features the World Trade Center building, the Bank of Ceylon headquarters building, the Lankathilaka Viharaya temple, an emerald collared parakeet (Psittacula calthropae), and an indigo royal butterfly (Tajuria arida). Its reverse side is vertically oriented and shows a Thelme dancer, a Yak Bera drummer, the Padmanidhi guard stone, and a stylized floral motif. Security features include a 2-mm wide red-to-green StarChrome windowed security thread and a watermark of a parakeet with an electrotype 500 and Cornerstones.
