The Sri Lanka 500 Rupees Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 2020. Its obverse features a Ceylon indigo royal butterfly, the World Trade Center and the Bank of Ceylon headquarters buildings in Colombo, the ancient Buddhist temple Lankathilaka Viharaya in Kandy, a Sri Lanka emerald-colored parakeet bird, and a lion holding a whip with a sword. The reverse is in a vertical orientation and depicts a Yak Bera drummer and a Thelme Netuma dancer, a Padmanidhi guard stone, and a stylized Dvithva liya vela floral motif. The note has a 2-mm wide red-to-green StarChrome windowed security thread with demetalized CBSL RS 500. Its watermark reveals a parakeet with an electrotype 500 in cornerstones. The banknote is 143 x 67 mm in size. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
