This used 500 Sri Lankan rupee banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. It is a banknote that is dated 12 August 2020, bears the signature of Mahinda Rajapaksa, and measures 143 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side shows a Ceylon indigo royal butterfly (Tajuria arida), the World Trade Center and Bank of Ceylon headquarters buildings in Colombo, a Sri Lanka emerald-collared parakeet (Psittacula calthropae), a lion holding a whip with a sword, and a view of the Lankathilaka Viharaya, an ancient Buddhist temple. Its reverse side is vertically oriented and depicts a Yak Bera drummer and a Thelme Netuma dancer, a Padmanidhi guard stone, and a stylized Dvithva Iiya vela floral motif. Security features include a 2-mm wide red-to-green StarChrome windowed security thread with a demetalized CBSL RS 500 and a watermark of a parakeet with an electrotype 500 and Cornerstones.
