The Suriname 1,000 Gulden banknote is part of the family of notes released by the Central Bank of Suriname in 1963 with the new coat of arms. The banknote comes with brown and blue color combinations and has dimensions of 152 x 66 mm. Portrayed on the banknotes obverse are fruit and vegetables, a torch with a 1963 banner, and a womans image. The reverse of the note displays the national emblem depicting a shield designed with a sailing ship, a star, and a palm tree, and flanked by two native indians holding bows and arrows. It also has a banner with text in Latin JUSTITIA PIETAS FIDES. The banknote bears a watermark that displays a parrots head. Additionally, it bears the signature of the bank president, Victor Max de Miranda. This Suriname 1,000 Gulden has been graded 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
