The Suriname 5,000 Gulden banknote was released by the Central Bank van Suriname in 1999 to address inflation. The banknotes obverse features the bank headquarters building located at the Waterkant in Paramaribo. A toucan in gold foil and a flower are also visible. The reverse of the note depicts a long-billed gnatwren bird sitting on a tree branch, the national emblem, mechanized banana harvesting, and the bank seal. The banknote is 147 x 68 mm in size and was printed by Thomas De La Rue and Company Limited. It carries a windowed security thread with a demetalized CBVS. It also has a watermark that reveals a toucan and an electrotype CBVS. This Suriname 5,000 Gulden is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
