The Tanzania 1,000 Shilling banknote is part of the family of notes issued by the Bank of Tanzania in 2016. The banknote comes in blue and is 125 x 65 mm in size. Its obverse features the coat of arms of the country, a holographic patch, the Bismarck Rock situated in Mwanza Harbor, and Julius Kambarage Nyerere who served as the first president. The back of the note depicts a coffee plant and the State House building with a flag. The banknote bears a windowed security thread with a demetalized BOT 2010. It also has a watermark that shows Julius Kambarage Nyerere with an electrotype 1000 and Cornerstones.
