This uncirculated 1,000 Tanzanian shilling banknote was issued in 2003 and signed by Basil P. Mramba and Daudi TS Ballali. It has a purple color scheme and measures 135 mm long and 66 mm wide. Its obverse side contains the emblem of Tanzania, the Bismarck Rock in Mwana Harbor, and a portrait of Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the first president of Tanzania. Its reverse side shows a plant and the State House building in Dar es Salaam. Security features include a holographic stripe, a windowed security thread with a demetalized BOT 2003, and a watermark of a giraffe head with an electrotype 1000.
