The Thailand 50 Baht Banknote was issued by the Government of Thailand in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Rama IX’s accession to the throne on June 9, 1946. The obverse of this blue banknote features Bhumibol Adulyadej wearing a uniform, the Royal Garuda emblem, the emblem of the Chakra Dynasty depicting chakra (discus) and trisula (trident), and the royal ceremonial emblem of the Golden Jubilee with a crown flanked by elephants. The reverse of the banknote depicts the coat of arms of Thailand and the signatures of Bodee Junnanon and Rerngchai Marakanond, the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall within the Royal Dusit Palace in Bangkok, the statue of the seated Rama VII modeled from the monument in front of the National Parliament building in Bangkok, and the Royal Garuda emblem. It does not contain a security thread but bears a watermark that shows a shadow image of Rama IX. It measures 144 x 72 mm. This commemorative specimen banknote is printed on polymer and is in uncirculated condition. It also comes in a folder card.
