The Thailand 500 Baht Banknote was issued by the Government of Thailand in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Rama IX’s accension to the throne on June 9, 1946. It comes in a combination of gold and green. Featured on the obverse are the Royal Garuda emblem of the Golden Jubilee depicting a crown flanked by elephants. It also shows Bhumibol Adulyadej wearing a uniform, the mythical creature kinnon which is a half man, half bird, and Rama IX hologram. The reverse of the note features Rama IX hologram, a waterfall, a dam, a standing Rama IX with a radio, a pen, a folded map, and an SLR camera. It also shows agricultural crops and farmers in a field with a village. The note does not contain a security thread but has a shadow image watermark that reflects the Royal emblem. It is 171 x 91 mm in size and is printed on polymer. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
