This uncirculated 500 Thai baht banknote was issued by the Government of Thailand in 1996. It bears the signatures of Surakiart Sathirathai and Vijit Supinit. Its obverse side portrays the Royal Garuda emblem, the royal seal, and Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) in his military uniform. Its reverse side depicts the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the Grand Palace, traditional dancers, the Royal Garuda emblem, Rama I, and Rama II. Security features of the purple note include a solid security thread with demetalized 500 and Thai text and a watermark of Rama IX with an electrotype Prajumyan. Its dimensions are 156 mm by 72 mm.
