This Opium War coin box contains two coins that circulated in China and Britain during the Opium War. The British Indian copper half-anna coin was issued by the East Indie Company in 1835. It weighs 12.08 g, has a diameter of 30.5 mm. and features the coat of arms and the value within a wreath. The Qing dynasty cash coin was minted during the reign of Daoguang, the 8th emperor in the Manchu Qing dynasty. It features Chinese characters on both sides, is made of brass, weighs ranging from 3.3 g to 4.6 g, and has a diameter ranging from 20.5 mm to 23.5 mm. The coin box also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the American Numismatic Association.
