The Tonga 1 Paanga banknote is part of the family of banknotes issued by the National Reserve Bank of Tonga in 2009. The green banknote bears a picture of King George Tupou V and the emblem of Tonga on its obverse. The back of the note depicts a whale leaping out of the water and a medallion. Printed by Thomas De La Rue, the paper bill is 150 x 70 mm in size and bears a 1.4mm windowed security thread with a demetalized NRBT. Additionally, it has a watermark that shows King George Tupou V, an electrotype NRBT, and Cornerstones. This Tonga 1 Paanga banknote has been graded 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
