The Turkey 5 Lira Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Turkey in 2009 under the 1970 Law. Its obverse side features the Father of Modern Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Its reverse side honors the science historian Aydin Sayili by featuring his portrait, open hands, planets, an atom, and a double-helix DNA chain. Security features include a holographic stripe, a solid security thread with printed TL 5, and a watermark of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk with an electrotype 5. The tan banknote is 130 mm by 64 mm in size and bear the signatures of Prof. Dr. Sahap Kavcioglu and Ugur Namik Kucuk. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
