The Uganda 1,000 Shilling Banknote was issued by the Bank of Uganda in 2017. The obverse of the orange banknote features a profile of a man wearing a Karimojong headdress. It also shows the Nyero rock paintings in Kumi, savannah grasslands, a purple-to-green Optically Variable Ink patch, and the country’s coat of arms. The reverse of the note depicts a profile of a man wearing a Karimojong headdress, a sun, the map of the country, an antelope, and the National Independence monument in Kampala. The banknote’s security features include a red-to-green windowed security thread with a demetallized BOU I and a watermark that reveals a crested crane, an electrotype 1000, and Cornerstones. The note is 131 x 64 mm in size and bears the signature of Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile and Susan Kanyemibwa. This particular paper bill is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
