The Uganda 5,000 Shillings Banknote was issued by the Bank of Uganda in 2008. The violet banknote bears English and Swahili text. Its obverse depicts Lake Bunyonyi and terraces, the coat of arms of Uganda, leaves, the bank emblem, and the equator monument in near Masaka. The reverse depicts railroad cars and a Kaawa ferry, and a coffee bush. The banknote bears a holographic stripe, a solid security thread with demetallized 5000, and a watermark that reveals a crested crane. It is 150 x 75 mm in size and is signed by Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile and Chris Manyindo Kassami. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
