The Uruguay 2,000 Nuevos Pesos Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Uruguay in 1989. This specimen banknote is in a combination of orange, purple, brown, red, blue, and green. On its obverse are the coat of arms of Uruguay and a portrait of Juan Manuel Blanes. The reverse of the note depicts the Altar of the Homeland consisting of an allegorical woman standing with a staff, laning on a monument with a flag and scales. The note bears a solid security thread with printed URUGUAY and a watermark that reflects Jose Gervasio Artigas. It also has a registration device in the form of laurels, a scroll, and an artist’s palette. The note measures 159 x 74 mm in size and is signed by Juan Casar Pacchiotti, Jose Sambarino, and Ricardo Pascale. This specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition and is secured in an acrylic block.
